SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Sackatoga Stable announced they will be hosting a "Saratoga Send-Off" event in memory of champion racehorse Funny Cide. The event will be held at Siro's Restaurant on August 16 at 6 p.m. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! Funny Cide, winner of the 2003 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, passed away on July 16. Nicknamed "The Gutsy Gelding", the thoroughbred used to run at Sackatoga Stable before retiring to Kentucky Horse Park in 2008. The event will feature a tribute video, a display of Funny Cide's trophies, live music by Blue Hand Luke, and a panel discussion, including commentary by Sackatoga Stable operating manager and Funny Cide owner Jack Knowlton, trainer Barclay Tagg, assistant trainer Robin Smullen and Hall of Fame jockey José Santos. HYDE PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident on East Market Street on August 13. Responding officers located a BMW that collided with a tree. The two passengers from Hyde Park were transported to the Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital. One is listed in critical condition.Preliminary investigations determined that the BMW was traveling west on East Market Street. The vehicle went off the roadway and struck a tree on the north side of the street. A Colorado grand jury has indicted 31 men and women, some of them possibly in Mexico, for drug trafficking in metro Denver.These 17th Judicial District indictments announced Monday by Adams County District Attorney Brian Mason follow discoveries by police and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency in February that a Mexico-based criminal group has been distributing cocaine in the Adams County area for about 15 years while avoiding law enforcement detection.The men and women are indicted on 15 counts of drug trafficking and 16 violations of the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act. Some of those indicted have not yet been arrested.Police in Brighton and other north metro cities began an investigation in May 2021. After two years of research and careful studying, scientists at the Butterfly Pavilion in Broomfield have become the first to ever raise Colorado fireflies in captivity.The scientists at Butterfly Pavilion, understandably, are always excited about bugs.
